frustration

quando tenho um projecto, penso no resultado final e no tipo de artesanato. enquanto estou a trabalhar, penso sobre cada um dos passos que vou tomar para acabar o trabalho e muitas apercebo-me que os passo que tomei não foram a melhor escolha... esta vez não é exceção... depois de ter feito quase meia bolsa, não gostei do que vi, por isso decidi desfazê-la...
não acho que o meu tempo foi desperdiçado porque todas as reflexões sobre o projecto são necessárias e sei que vou ficar mais satisfeita com o trabalho no final... mas mesmo assim enquanto estou a desfazer a bolsa, sinto-me um pouco frustrada...

when I have a project, I think about the final result, the material and the type of crafting. while I'm working, I think about each steps I'm going to take to finish the work and many times I realise that the steps I took weren't the best choice... this time is no exception... after crocheting almost half the pouch, I didn't like the looks of it, so I decided to frog it...
I don't think that my time was wasted because all the reflections about the project are necessary and I know that I will be more satisfied with the work in the end... but still while frogging the pouch, I feel a tiny bit frustrated...
does this happen to you too?

recentemente comprei um telemovel com ecrã tátil (não gosto muito... tarde demais para arrependimentos e o problema é que às vezes sou desastrada. tenho andado à procura de bolsas ou caixas que vão protegê-lo nalguns acidentes tipo cair da cama, cair da mesa, cair do sofá, cair da mesinha de cabeceira (ok, é sempre o mesmo acidente)... depois da procura e não muito satisfeita com as ofertas do mercado, decidi fazer um pelas minhas próprias mãos...

this weekend I watched this wonderful film...
it was so much fun: Rapunzel, a very brave girl, that has very peculiar weapons (a frying pan and her magical hair); Flynn Ryder, a thief with a golden heart, that helps Rapunzel to fullfil her most wanted wish; Maximus, the guard horse, that acts like a dog; and many more fun and cute characters...
I'm not a Disney movies fan because some of them have a lot of drama and my tears roll down my face very easily. if you are like me, trust me, you will love this film: there is a bit of drama but not too much. it has many beautiful scenes and it was 3D (felt a bit dizzy afterwards)...

- estou na cama bem quentinha a ouvi-la cair.
- estou sentada junto à janela e a beber algo quente.
- estou num café a ver pessoas com guarda-chuvas coloridos.

- tenho roupa molhada à espera de se secar ao sol (e roupas molhadas são roupas muito zangadas).

há anos atrás eu comprei um guarda-chuva amarelo e foi engraçado ver a reacção das pessoas: a maioria dizia que era uma cor estranha para um guarda-chuva e que nunca o usaria. Mas eu sei que o meu adorável guarda-chuva iluminava os meus dias de chuva como se eu tivesse um sol pessoal na minha mão... infelizmente ele estragou-se num dia mais tempestuoso. Agora tenho um guarda-chuva roxo giro (prenda de amiga) decorado com pegadas gato que eu raramente uso porque tenho medo que alguém mo roube e eu sei que as pessoas olham para mim de uma forma estranha porque já não sou um miúda pequena...

years ago I bought a yellow umbrella and it was funny to see the people's reaction: most of them said that it was a strange colour for an umbrella and would never wear it. But I know that my adorable umbrella brightened up my rainy days like I had a personal sun in my hand... unfortunately on a stormy day it was ruined and now I have cute purple umbrella (a gift from a friend) decorated with footprints of a cat that I rarely wear because I'm afraid that someone may steal it and I know that when I use it people look at me in a strange way because I'm not a little girl...

FINALMENTE terminei este cachecol interminável...
já o tinha começado há muito tempo e mais ou menos terminado mas a dona (Claudia) queria-o mais comprido e perguntou se era possível... sim, era e agora está acabado. Eu podia ter concluído este projecto há mais tempo mas trabalhar com lã quente no verão é um pouco impensável para mim...
foi tão divertido fazê-lo por causa das cores e também é tão quentinho... não é muito largo mas muuuuuuito comprido!
é tão bom quando acabo um projecto e sai tão bem como tinha imaginado... mereço uma palmadinha no meu ombro... feito!!!

FINALLY I've ended this neverending scarf...
it was started long time ago and sort of finished but the owner (Claudia) wanted it longer and asked me if it was possible... yup, it was and now it's finished. I could have concluded this project earlier but working with warm wool in summer is a bit unthinkable to me...
It was so much fun making it because of the colours and it is so warm too... not very large but veeeery long!
it's so good when I finish a project and it comes out as nice as I wanted... I deserve a pat on my shoulder... done!!!

descobri que algures num outro país ou países, existem Nutallerias... pergunto: tudo é servido com Nutella? nem consigo imaginar... adoraria dizer que se uma destas lojas abrir em Portugal eu estaria no paraíso... mas não... como é que poderia alguma vez ir lá, provar um pouco de tudo e saír daquele sítio? teria que ser arrastada para casa com lágrimas nos meus olhos... de vós não sei mas eu sou viciada em Nutella... sempre que tenho um frasco de Nutella em casa, ele está sempre a ser atacado... costumo comer muitas vezes no pão? a maior parte não... normalmente é invadido por uma colher pequena (só para ter a ilusão que uma colher pequena não se vai notar na balança... hahaha, sou tão engraçada... apenas uma colher) ou pelo meu dedo indicador (memórias de infância cada vez que o faço! até olho para trás a ver se fui apanhada no acto)... e com crepe? deliciooooooooso...
por agora posso dormir em paz... mas um dia o meu lugar preferido na terra vai chegar...

I found out that out there in another country or countries, there are Nutellerias... I ask: is everything served with Nutella? I can't even imagine it... I would love to say that if one of these shops opens in Portugal, it will be heaven to me... but no... how could I ever go there, try a bit of everything and leave the place? I had to be dragged home with tears in my eyes... I don't know about you but I'm a Nutella addict... whenever I have a jar of Nutella at home, it is always under attack... do I eat it a lot on bread? mostly not... it is usually invaded by a small spoon (just to get the illusion that a small spoon won't be noticed on the scale... hahahaha, I'm so funny... only one spoon) or by my index finger (brings me back to childhood whenever I do it! I even look behind to see if I was caught in the act) ... and on crepes? deeeeeelicious...
by now I can sleep peacefully... but one day my favourite place on earth will arrive...

colar um pouco torcido / a bit twisted necklace

- bem, aqui está... o meu colar transformado...

- não sou exactamente uma pessoa que usa colares embora adore ver colares nas outras mulheres e então decidi que também deveria usar...

- esqueci-me de tirar a foto do "antes" mas posso tentar descrever: um colar de corrente com alguns corações metálicos pendurados...
- achei-o tão querido na altura em que o comprei mas quando cheguei a casa apercebi-me que não era "eu"... por isso a pergunta foi: o que fazer?
- depois de muitas tentativas, foi isto que saíu...
- eu sei que as cores são fortes mas algumas das minhas t-shirts são lisas com cores básicas (preto, cinza...)... este colar vai trazer-lhes alguma vida

Posso começar o meu dia sem beber um e é o que faço.

I can start my day without drinking one and that is what I do.

I drink my coffee after lunch when I'm at home.

I don't like espresso... I prefer the old fashioned coffee to have a lot to drink.

And what I seldom do but I REALLY like is: dunking cookies in my coffee and eat them without making a big mess... and I did it today imagining that you were here with me having a nice afternoon chat...

a minha "comida rápida" com os primeiros ingredientes que tinha à minha frente...
ingredientes: massa, linguiça, ananás, natas, ketchup, queijo...
- cozer a massa, eu usei a da imagem:
- numa frigideira, colocar a linguiça às rodelas e deixar grelhar um pouco;

- juntar o ananás (usei o ananás enlatado) cortado em bocados pequenos e deixar grelhar um pouco;

- juntar as natas e ketchup;
- deixar cozer mas não se esqueçam de mexer...
- juntar a massa ao molho e queijo da vossa preferência...
- servir e controlem-se... pelo menos eu tive que o fazer...

my "fast food" with the first ingredients I had in front of me...
ingredients: pasta, linguiça (click and click), pineapple, cream, ketchup, cheese...
- cook the pasta, I used the one on the picture;
- on a frying pan put the sliced linguiça and let it grill a bit;
- add pineapple (I used canned pineapple) cut in small parts and let it grill a bit;
- add the cream (heavy cream?!) and ketchup;
- let it cook a bit but don't forget to stir...
- add the pasta to the sauce and cheese of your preference...

Como adivinhei, não há fotos das panquecas que fiz... Elas foram logo comidas depois de feitas...
Elas não se pareciam exactamente como as da foto do post anterior e aprendi que as panquecas não são como fazer crepes franceses:

- a minha primeira tenativa foi deitar um pouco da mistura das panquecas e mover a frigideira em círculos para os fazer finos... dah... é o hábito...
- a minha segunda tentativa foi melhor... apenas deitar a mistura, deixar cozer e virar... voilá, uma panqueca grossinha...
- não, eu não fiz o truque de magia de atirar panquecas ao ar para as virar...
- elas não foram comidas com mel e acho que em Portugal não se vende xarope de bordo (???? ou é chamado ácer???) Elas foram rapidamente consumidas com chocolate quente...

HI!

As I guessed, there are no pictures of the pancakes I made... They were eaten right after they were made...
They didn't look exactly as the ones in the picture of my last post and I learned that pancakes aren't like making French crepes:
- my first try was to pour a bit of the pancake mix and move the frying pan in circles to make them thin... duh... it's just the habit...
- my second try was better... just pour the mix, let it cook a bit and turn it over... voilá, a thick pancake...
- nope, I didn't make that magic trick of throwing pancakes in the air to turn them...
- they weren't eaten with honey and I think in Portugal there is no maple syrop! They were quickly consumed with hot chocolate...
Note: the ladies on the picture are from Olney, the place where the tradition started.

Adooooooro estas laranjas...

a minha mãe sempre lhes chamou "Laranjas de umbigo" e eu também (ainda o fazemos)... há um par de anos disseram-me que o nome delas era "Laranjas da Baía" (Baía, no Brasil)...
sinceramente... prefiro o nome "Laranjas de umbigo"... tão sumarentas e doces e o meu quintal tem uma destas árvores... sou tão sortuda... :)

I loooove these oranges...
my mum always called them "Bellybutton oranges" and so did I (and we still do)... a couple of years ago I was told that they were called "Baía Oranges" (Baía is a place in Brazil)...
honestly... I prefer the name "Bellybutton oranges"... so juicy and sweet and my backyard has one of these trees... I'm so lucky... :)

I made this scarf probably about two years ago but the owner didn't wear it a lot because it was a bit short... and she is right, it is short... so she asked me if I could make it longer as I have some wool left... my first thought was that if I continued from where I stopped, there would surely be a mark... so, as I'm a little perfectionist with my work, I decided to frog the previous scarf and make a new one from the beginning...

É tão quentinho que lhe chamo o meu edredon portátil (alcunha: EP)... e tem estado tanto frio aqui... bem, o meu EP tem velcro e, como podem ver, ele gosta de ter recordações de cada um dos meus cachecóis... :)

I've got a jacket that my friends don't like to see me in it because they say that it makes me look like a sack... I don't care... It's so warm that I call it my portable duvet (nickname: PD)... and it has been so cold here... well, my PD has velcro and, as you can see, it likes to have souveniers from each of my scarves... :)

back from vacation

Depois de um mês afastado do meu cantinho, estou de volta...

This is what I cook for dinner when I'm lazy... easy and taaaasty... and this time I decided to start with the end...

Apreciem... podem acrescentar outros ingredientes como bacon, cogumelos, etc...
Enjoy... you may add other ingredients like bacon, mushrooms, etc...

Levar ao forno, deixar o queijo derreter e o tomate cozer...
Take to the oven, let the cheese melt and the tomate cook...

Colocar queijo, desta vez usei queijo de cabra...
Put cheese, this time I used goat cheese...

Colocar fatias finas de tomate e sal...
Put thin slices of tomato and salt...

Pincelar com um pouco de azeite, alho em pó e pimenta...
Put a bit of olive oil, grated garlic and pepper...

Dispor fatias de pão num prato de ir ao forno...
Display slices of bread in an oven tray...

É engraçado como vives toda a vida com o teu corpo e nunca te apercebes que algumas partes são diferentes de pessoa para pessoa... sim... é muito fácil notar a diferença no nariz, nas orelhas, nos olhos... mas alguma vez olharam para os dedos dos pés e compararam-nos? Eu nunca o fiz... no outro dia disseram-me que tinha os "dedos dos pés encaracolados"... primeiro olhei para os dedos ofendida porque estavam a gozar comigo mas agora olho para eles, sorrio e faço piadas sobre eles também... sim... eles são encaracolados e isto é engraçado...
(aposto que estão a olhar para os vossos agora... hahahaha)

It's funny how you live your life with your body and you never realize that some parts differ from person to person... yes... the nose, ears, eyes are quite easy to notice the difference... but did you ever look at your toes and compare them? I never did... on the other day I was told that I had "curly toes"... first I looked at my toes offended because I was being mocked but now I look at them, smile and joke about them too... yup... they are curly and that's funny...
(I bet that you are looking at yours right now... hahahaha)
