Conheçam uma nova "geocacher", eeeeeeeeeuuuuuuu...

eu não estava exatamente muito animada quando fui "arrastada" para esta "caça"... queria ficar em casa, sentada no sofa e não fazer nada... mas fui... a experiência não foi má mas não estava muito convencida... mas agora, apercebo-me que não conheço assim tanto os meus arredores como pensava e com a ajuda desta espécie de jogo, já conheci alguns novos lugares muito perto do sítio onde moro... estranho... uma pessoa pensa que não há muito que ver e afinal existe... ou aqueles sítios que pensas que conheces, têm um cantinho ao qual nunca prestaste atenção... podem ver 2 dos sítios que fui este fim de semana, cliquem aqui e aqui... ou simplesmente vão ao meu outro blog: macati was here

I wasn't exactly very excited when I was "dragged" to this "hunt"... I wanted to stay at home, sitting on my sofa and doing nothing... but I went... the experience wasn't bad but still not very convinced... but now, I realise that I don't know my surroundings that much and with the help of this sort of game, I already learned a few new places very close to where I live... strange... one thinks that there isn't much to see but afterall there is... or those places you thought you knew, have a spot you never paid attention to... you can see 2 of the places I went this weekend, click here and here ... or just go to my other blog: macati was here

atualização / update

cá está uma atualização do meu placard... como podem ver, existem principalmente postais de amigos ou parceiros de troca... uma imagem de um evento cultural que não fui mas gostei da imagem do cão e do miúdo a olhar para a lua... e uma publicidade do film "os irmãos Grimm"... sou uma fã dos contos de Grimm...
ainda vão a tempo para contribuir... ;)

here is an update of my cork board... as you can see, there are mainly postcards from friends or swap partners... a picture from a cultural event I didn't go but I liked the picture of the dog and kid looking at the moon... and a film ad "The Grimm brothers"... I'm a fan of Grimm Brothers tales...

sim, está quase vazio... e aqui vem meu pedido a vós: animem o meu quadro... parte dele pode ser vosso mas existem 2 pequenas condições: o tamanho máximo tem que ser de um postal de tamanho normal / standard e deve ser de algo que gostariam de ver no vosso quadro ou algo que vos inspire...
além de animarem o meu quadro, mencionar-vos-ei no meu blog e facebook (publicidade extra)... o material pode ser qualquer coisa desde que possa por pins para o/a prender, claro... papel, tecido, colagens, recortes, costura, um postal... surpreendam-me... estão interessadas/os? deixem um comentário e contactar-vos-ei através do vosso blog...

yes... it's almost empty... and here comes my request to you: cheer my board... part of it can be yours but there are 2 small conditions: the maximum size must be of a regular / standard postcard and it must be something you would like to see on your board or something that inspires you...
besides cheering my board, I will mention you in my blog and facebook (extra publicity)... the material may be anything you want but I must be able to use pins to hang it, of course... paper, cloth, collages, cut outs, sewing, a postcard... just surprise me... are you interested? leave a comment and I'll contact you through your blog...

halloween

hoje é Dia das bruxas (ou halloween)... acho que já é celebrado por todo o mundo e Portugal não é exceção... provavelmente os culpados são os professores de inglês (eu sou uma e considero-me culpada) que preparam aulas explicando a razão desta festividade e como o dia é passado hoje em dia... MAS a cultura portuguesa não é posta de parte já que em alguns sítios se faz uma coisa semelhante à "doçura ou travessura" mas em vez de pedirem doces, as crianças pedem por um biscoito feito tradicionalmente para o "Dia de todos os santos"...
bem, e tinha que partilhar este vídeo também... ainda é um dos meus filmes de animação favoritos... "o estranho mundo de Jack" (em inglês "Nightmare before Christmas") de Tim Burton... alguns dos meus alunos irão escutar esta canção hoje... :)

today is halloween... I think it is already celebrated all over the world and Portugal it is no exception... probably the guilty ones are the English teachers (I am one and I claim myself guilty) who prepare lessons explaining the reason for this festivity and how this day is spent nowadays... BUT Portuguese culture isn't put aside as some places do something similar to "trick or treating" but instead of asking for candies, children ask for a small cookie traditionally baked for "All saints day"...
well, I had to share this video too... it's still one of my favourtite animation films... "Nightmare before Christmas" by Tim Burton... some of my students will listen to this song in class today... :)

mary blair

De repente o Google mostrou-me que sou fã de uma artista cujo nome eu não sabia e que hoje é celebrado o seu 100º aniversário... Mary Blair... aqui está algum do seu trabalho (ela também trabalhou para a Disney - Alice no País das Maravilhas, Peter Pan e Cinderella)... adoro a forma que ela usava as cores e trabalhava a transição da luz para o escuro, as sombras...

Estou mesmo feliz.
Adoro ilustração, às vezes passo tempo numa livraria a apreciar as capas dos livros ou abro-os só para ver o interior... alguns artistas são espantosos e mesmo a história mais aborrecida pode trazer tanta alegria aos meus olhos. Não consigo imaginar a satisfação que é para um ilustrador quando ele / ela termina um trabalho que vai ser visto e apreciado por pessoas que não conhecem. e depois saio da loja com um sorriso no rosto (ok. se calhar também com um novo livro para ler)...
agora que sei o nome da artista que pertence a algumas das minhas memórias da infância, posso dizer:

Suddenly Google showed me that I am a fan of an artist whose name I didn't know and that today is celebrated her 100th anniversary... Mary Blair... here is some of her work (she worked for Disney too - Alice in Wonderland, Peter Pan and Cinderella)... I love the way she used the colours and worked the transition of light to dark, the shadows...
I am truly happy.
I love illustration, sometimes I spend time in a bookshop appreciating the covers of the books or open them just to see the inside... some artists are amazing and even the dullest story can bring so much joy to my eyes. I can't imagine how fulfilling it is for an illustrator when he / she finishes a work which will be seen and enjoyed by people they don't know. and then I leave the shop with a smile in my face (ok, probably with a new book to read too)...
now that I know the name of the artist that belongs to some of my childhood memories, I can say:
Thank you, Mary Blair!

cookies and marshmallows

a única coisa útil que fiz hoje (feriado): bolachas! estas foram de uma receita que uma amiga minha me deu... depois de cozerem, coloca-se um pouco de compota e marshmallow em cima e de volta ao forno... adoro marshmallows grelhados e decidi experimentar esta receita. devo confessar que eles eram mais saborosos antes do doce e dos marshmallows, ficaram demasiado doces... mas de qualquer modo serão comidos... nada de deserdícios aqui... :)
se quiserem saber sobre as formas: são ovelhas e coelhos, os únicos cortadores que tenho. foram-me dados numa troca e adoro-os... enquanto estava a cortar, comecei a pensar que a próxima vez que alguém me pergunte o que quero para os anos, direi: "cortadores de bolachas"... :D

the only useful thing I did today (holiday in Portugal): cookies! these are were after a recipe a friend of mine gave me... after baking, you put a bit of jam and marshmallow on the top and back to the oven... I love roasted marshmallows and decided to give this recipe a try... I must confess you that they tasted better before the jam and the marshmallow, they turned out too sweet... but they will be eaten anyway... no wasting here... :)
if you wonder about the shapes: they are sheep and rabbits, the only cookie cutters I got. they were given in a swap and I just love them... while I was cutting, I began thinking that the next time anyone asks me what I want for bday, I'll say: "cookie cutters"... :D
