Eu sei que tenho andado demasiado ausente (pintura de casa e por isso muito cansada) e agora vou afastar-me durante cerca de um mês... entretanto prometo que vou fazer trabalhos manuais... bem... um pequeno segredo: tenho uma passagem a Praga... já comprei o guia e parece ser uma cidade muuuuito bonita...

This is what I cook for dinner when I'm lazy... easy and taaaasty... and this time I decided to start with the end...

Apreciem... podem acrescentar outros ingredientes como bacon, cogumelos, etc...
Enjoy... you may add other ingredients like bacon, mushrooms, etc...

Levar ao forno, deixar o queijo derreter e o tomate cozer...
Take to the oven, let the cheese melt and the tomate cook...

Colocar queijo, desta vez usei queijo de cabra...
Put cheese, this time I used goat cheese...

Colocar fatias finas de tomate e sal...
Put thin slices of tomato and salt...

Pincelar com um pouco de azeite, alho em pó e pimenta...
Put a bit of olive oil, grated garlic and pepper...

Dispor fatias de pão num prato de ir ao forno...
Display slices of bread in an oven tray...

Tenham um bom fim-de-semana...

É engraçado como vives toda a vida com o teu corpo e nunca te apercebes que algumas partes são diferentes de pessoa para pessoa... sim... é muito fácil notar a diferença no nariz, nas orelhas, nos olhos... mas alguma vez olharam para os dedos dos pés e compararam-nos? Eu nunca o fiz... no outro dia disseram-me que tinha os "dedos dos pés encaracolados"... primeiro olhei para os dedos ofendida porque estavam a gozar comigo mas agora olho para eles, sorrio e faço piadas sobre eles também... sim... eles são encaracolados e isto é engraçado...
(aposto que estão a olhar para os vossos agora... hahahaha)

It's funny how you live your life with your body and you never realize that some parts differ from person to person... yes... the nose, ears, eyes are quite easy to notice the difference... but did you ever look at your toes and compare them? I never did... on the other day I was told that I had "curly toes"... first I looked at my toes offended because I was being mocked but now I look at them, smile and joke about them too... yup... they are curly and that's funny...
(I bet that you are looking at yours right now... hahahaha)

A ameixoeira da minha mãe está cheia de ameixas e claro que ela me deu algumas... algumas? ela nunca dá algumas, ela dá muitas... por isso... o que fazer para não as desperdiçar? Uma TARTE!!!
Aqui vai a receita... podem por qualquer fruta de verão que queiram...

A minha tarte de ameixa
125 gr farinha
125 gr açucar
50 gr manteiga
1 ovo

Colocar todos os ingredientes numa tigela e misturar com as mãos. Se a massa se colar às mãos, juntem mais farinha (eu tive que juntar mais 2 colheres de sopa de farinha porque o ovo era grande). Cubram o fundo e lados de uma forma de tarte já untada e polvilhada de farinha. Coloquem as ameixas, já sem caroço, por cima da massa e polvilhem com algum açucar. Levem ao forno e apreciem... É bom morno ou frio!

My mum's plumtree is full of plums and of course she gave me some... some? she never gives some, she gives me a lot... so... what to do so I won't waste them? A PIE!!!!
Here goes the recipe... you can put any summer fruit you want...

My plum pie
125 gr all purpose flour
125 gr sugar
50 gr butter
1 egg

Put all these ingredients in a bowl and mix it with your hands. If the dough glues on your hands, add more flour (I had to add 2 extra spoonfull of flour as the egg was big). Cover the bottom and edges of a greased and floured pie plate. Put the plums, already without the kernel, on the dough and sprinkle some suger on the top. Bake it and enjoy it... It's good while warm or cold!

Nunca o tinha dito aqui pois sou um pouco reservada e o meu blog é uma espécie de escape...

Eu sou uma professora e este ano lectivo foi muito stressante... miúdos mal educados e sem vontade de aprender... tanto esforço e acho que eles não aprenderam nada... além disso a maioria viu o meu lado pior: sempre a discutir e a relembrar que eles não podem falar comigo como se tivesse a idade deles e que não admito certas atitudes... alguns mudaram a atitude mas outros olhavam para mim como se fosse um cão a ladrar e não percebiam o que eu estava a dizer...

por isto é que estive um pouco afastada este ano, precisava de algum (MUITO) descanso depois das aulas...

mas ao mesmo tempo tive alunos espectaculares... aqueles que tocam no meu coração e mesmo que me zangue com eles, não dura muito... eles diziam que eu era "má" e "mean" (má em inglês) e eu sorria e dizia "sim, sou MÁnuela ou MEANuela!" (meu nome é manuela)... ríamo-nos um pouco e a aula continuava...

às vezes dizia que não tinha corrigido os trabalhos deles porque o fim-de-semana era o "descanso do guerreiro"... depois da minha última aula com eles e eu a dizer que iria ter saudades deles, eles deram-me esta espada... porque cada guerreiro precisa de uma espada... :) e faz barulhos e tem luzes...

e esta sou eu... nunca mostrei uma foto minha também... bem... há sempre uma primeira vez... talvez seja também a última...

Peço mesmo desculpa que tenha estado tão ausente daqui...

I never told it here as I'm a bit reserved and my blog is sort of an escape...

I'm a teacher and this schoolyear was very stressful... rude and unwilling to learn kids... so much effort and I think they haven't learnt a thing... beside that most of them saw my worst side: always arguing and reminding them that they can't talk to me as if I were of their age and that I don't admit some kind of attitude... some changed their attitude but some looked at me as if I were a barking dog and didn't understand what I was saying!

this is why I was a bit apart from my blog this year, I needed some (A LOT of) rest after school...

but at the same time I had great pupils... those kind of pupils that touch my heart and even if I get angry with them, it won't last long... they called me "mean" and I smiled and said "yup, I'm MEANuela!" (my name is manuela)... we laughed a bit and class continued...

sometimes I said that I didn't correct their works because weekends was the "warrior's rest"... so after my last lesson with them and me saying that I would miss them, they gave me this sword... because every warrior needs a sword... :) and it makes noises and has lights...

and this is me... never showed a picture of myself too... well... there is always a first time... and probably this will be the last...

I'm truly sorry for being so absent...

Pediram-me para fazer um anel com missangas verdes... é um pouco difícil quando te mencionam uma cor e não sabes exactamente que verde a pessoa quer pois era um presente de aniversário para outra pessoa e tinha que ser verde... tentei incluir um pouco de tudo: um verde mais claro, mais escuro, mais quente e mais frio... espero que a pessoa tenha gostado desta "salada verde"... :)

enquanto faço as minhas artes, tento imaginar um nome e desta vez a primeira palavra que me veio à cabeça foi a palavra alemã Dschungel que em português significa "selva"...

I was asked to make a ring with green beads... it's a bit hard when you mention a colour and you don't know exactly which green the person wants as it was a birthday present for another person and it had to be green... I tried to include a bit of everything: a lighter, a darker, a warmer and a colder green... hope the person liked this "green salad"...

while I do my crafts, I try to imagine a name and this time the first word that came to my head was the German word Dschungel which means "jungle" in English...

Eu sei que já conhecem a Lilly... mas o que não sabem é que ela não tem ninguém para cuidar dela... ela foi feita para uma troca com o tema criaturas mágicas (não é bem este o nome mas é parecido, não é Di?)... Demorou-me algum tempo para fazer a Lilly e a minha parceira por várias razões (estava em demasiadas trocas ao mesmo tempo) não tinha tempo para mim... bem, esperei e esperei e mandei emails e continuei a ler o blog dela onde dizia que as parceiras da troca não tinham sido esquecidas... de repente o blog dela desapareceu... por isso... concluí que não vai haver mais troca e que alguém que lê o meu blog vai receber a minha doce Lilly... Vais ser tu a pessoa sortuda? Apenas deixa um comentário e na próxima quarta-feira eu tiro um nome desta mesma chávena...

I know you've already met Lilly... but what you don't know is that she has no one to look after her... she was made for a swap with the theme magical and fairytale creatures (it isn't exactly this name but it's close, right Di?)... I took a little more time to make Lilly and my partner for several reasons (was in too many swaps at the same time) didn't have enough time for me... well, I waited and waited and sent her emails and kept on reading her blog where she said that her swap partners weren't forgotten... suddenly her blog disappeared... so... I concluded that there will be no more swap with her and that someone who reads my blog will get my sweet Lilly... Will you be the lucky person? E são brincos para a Tany... Ela faz a sua própria roupa por isso usei linha (e arame) em honra do seu maravilhoso trabalho... tentei que ficassem o mais parecidos possível mas o arame era demasiado fino e foi um pouco difícil manter a forma... Gosto destas missangas vermelhas...

And they are earrings for Tany... She makes her own clothes so I used thread (and wire) to honour her wonderful work... I tried to make them as similar as possible but the wire was too thin and it was a bit difficult to keep the shape... I like these red beads...

- o despertador acorda os meus ouvidos mas não os meus olhos, corpo ou cérebro...
- espero não adormecer de novo...
- forço o meu braço para fora dos lençois e cobertor quentinhos para acender o candeeiro...
- os meus olhos fechados não gostam da luz e fecham ainda mais...
- o meu cérebro ordena os meus olhos a abrirem...
- eles fazem-no mas em protesto e abrem o máximo que conseguem...
- entretanto o meu braço que está de novo debaixo dos lençois e cobertores, puxa-os para o lado para causar um choque térmico...
- ainda na cama... a sentir frio mas na cama...
- o meu braço arrependido volta a cobrir o corpo...
- o meu cérebro envia pensamentos de responsabilidade e maturidade...
- o meu corpo ignora os pensamentos...
- mão responsável força os meus olhos a olhar para o relógio...
- corpo levanta-se e arrasta-se para a casa de banho para um duche...
- sentindo a água quente, corpo acorda muito devagaaaar e cérebro está satisfeito... mas não o estado de espírito!

- force my arm out of the warm sheets and blanket to turn on the lamp...
- my closed eyes don't like that and close even more...

- they do it but in protest and open the more they can get...
- meanwhile my arm which was again under the sheets and blankets, pushes them aside to cause a thermal shock...
- still in bed... feeling cold but in bed...
- my regretful arm covers the body again...
- my brain send flashes of thoughts of responsibility and maturity...
- my body ignores flashes...
- responsible hand forces my eyes to look at the watch...
- body gets up and drags itself to the bathroom for a shower...
- feeling the hot water, body wakes up veeeeeery slowly and brain is pleased... but not the mood!

e para combinar com o vestido eu fiz estes brincos... eles foram feitos na manhã do dia do casamento na cama... trabalhar com missangas na cama é muito interessante, especialmente quando uma missanga rola da nossa mão e não sabemos onde foi parar... e descobrir uma boa posição para trabalhar também não é fácil... hmmmm... eu também ia fazer um colar mas adivinhem porque é que mudei de ideias e não foi por falta de tempo...

sim... eu pendurei os brincos numa caneca... as missangas têm um brilho especial que não consigo apanhar... mas são tão giras...

and to match the dress I made these earrings... they were made on the wedding's day morning in bed... working with beads in bed is very interesting, especially when a bead rolls down your hand and you haven't got the faintest idea where it landed... and finding the good position to work isn't easy either... hmmmm... I was going to make a necklace too but guess why I changed my mind and it wasn't because I didn't have the time...

yup... I hung the earrings on a cup... the beads have a special glow that I can't capture... but they are so beautiful...

Sempre gostei vestir de preto especialmente quando era adolescente... preto e calças de ganga... e ainda adoro roupa preta... quando estou numa loja, a primeira coisa que escolho é uma blusa, t-shirt, saia ou outra coisa qualquer em preto... mas depois penso que tenho demasiadas coisas pretas e deveria escolher o mesmo mas numa cor diferente... de vez em quando não há e isso é estranho... e saio da loja com roupas de cores diferentes... agora apercebo-me que não tenho assim tanta roupa em preto...

no fim-de-semana passado, fui a um casamento de uma amiga e foi difícil encontrar algo que gostasse... eu queria comprar roupa que facilmente pudesse usar no dia-a-dia e não deixaria apodrecer no armário... depois de muitas tentativas, encontrei finalmente 2 vestidos de verão... e depois toda a semana antes do casamento começa a chover e estar muito frio... felizmente, o sol brilhou e o lugar era quentinho e agradável...

aqueles que me conhecem já há uns anos, nunca imaginariam ver-me assim vestida: toda florida e com sapatos de salto alto (não tão altos)... ainda adoro as minhas calças de ganga e t-shirts mas eu acho engraçado ver-me ao espelho com um ar de menina... :)

I always loved wearing black, especially when I was a teenager... black and jeans... and I still love black clothes... when I'm in a shop, the first thing I pick is a black blouse, T-shirt, skirt, whatever... but then I think that I have too many things in black and that I should choose the same but in a different colour... sometimes there isn't and it's strange... and I come out with clothes in different colours... now I realised that I don't have that many black clothes...

last weekend, I went to a friend's marriage and it was so hard to find something I liked... I wanted to buy clothes that I would easily wear everyday and wouldn't let them in the wardrobe rotten... after several attempts I finally found 2 summerdresses... and then the whole week before the wedding it started to rain and it was very cold... luckily, the sun shone and the place was warm and nice...

those who know me for some years, would never imagine me wearing these kind of clothes: all flowery and high heel shoes (not that high...)... I still love my jeans and t-shirts but I think it is funny watching myself in the mirror with a more girly look... :)

Páscoa:

Aqueles que me lêem com alguma frequencia sabem que passei a minha infância na Alemanha... a maior parte das tradições que aprendi foram alemãs e ahvia duas coisas que adorava fazer na Páscoa: caça aos ovos (encontrar no jardim doces e ovos cozidos pintados) e pintar ovos... aqui em Portugal já não faço caça aos ovos mas ainda pinto os ovos!!! No sábado à noite (dia antes do domingo de Páscoa), a minha mãe e eu sentámo-nos na cozinha e pintámos ovos já cozidos... no início é como ter uma folha branca à nossa frente e não saber o que pintar mas assim que escolhemos uma cor e tocamos o ovo com o pincel, a imaginação chega e enquanto estamos a pintar um ovo, já pensamos no próximo ovo e no seguinte e no seguinte... pintei 5... 2 já foram comidos, deixei um na minha mãe (de certeza já comido) e estes 2 ainda estão vivos... mas não durante muito mais tempoooooo!!!!

Easter:

Those who read me with some frequency knows that I spent my childhood in Germany... most of the traditions I learned were German and there were two things I loved doing at Easter: egg hunt (finding sweets and painted boiled eggs in the garden) and painting eggs... here in Portugal I don't do egg hunt anymore but I still paint eggs!!! On Saturday evening (the day before Easter Sunday), my mother and I sat in the kitchen and painted already boiled eggs... in the beginning it's like having a blank paper before you and you don't know what to paint but once you choose a colour and touch the egg with the brush, imagination arrives and while you're painting an egg, you're already thinking about the next egg and the next and the next... I painted 5... 2 are already eaten, left one at my mom's (eaten by now, for sure) and these 2 are still alive... but not for looooooong!!!!

Esta promesa está a demorar cerca de um ano a cumprir... Acabei um brinco mas quando fiz o outro, ele não era exactamente igual... eu sei, coisas feitas à mão não ficam bem igual a outros feitos anteriormente... mesmo assim, eu gosto de fazer brincos o mais semelhantes possível...

This promise is taking about a year to fulfill... I finished one earring but when I made the other, it didn't look exactly the same... I know, handmade stuff doesn't always come out like other already made... still, I like making earrings as similar as possible...

Sim... tenho estado afastada já há algum tempo e não têm sabido notícias de mim, por isso vou aborrecer-vos até à morte com as minhas novidades...

Yup... I've been away for quite a long time and as you haven't been hearing from me, so I'll bore you to death with my news...

Decidi tirar os livros de cozinha das estantes e experimentar novos sabores... do livro de cozinha grega, experimentei uma receita com carne e do Jamie Oliver uma receita com peixe... gostei mais da de peixe... além do livro, tenho visto alguns programas de cozinha de Jamie e dão-me vontade de comer tudo o que ele faz... a receitas parecem tão deliciosas e eu consigo quase cheirar o resultado... ele usa muitas ervas... hmmmmm... a caminho do supermercado e comprar algumas sementes... agora existem sementes de algumas ervas aromáticas em vasos; sementes de cenoura no quintal; sementes de amores-perfeitos no jardim; sementes de tomate, pimentos chili, alface (e um outro que não me lembro) numa estufa inventada... estou tão entusiasmada... será que vão crescer?... está um pouco frio e a chover... e as sementes lá fora... espero que estejam bem...

I decided to take the cooking books out of the shelves and try new flavours... from the book of Greek cuisine, I tried a recipe with meat and the one from Jamie Oliver a recipe with fish... loved the fish best... besides the book, I've been watching some of Jamie's cooking programmes and they make me want to eat all the things he cooks... the recipes look so delicious and I can almost smell the result... he uses a lot of herbs... hmmmmm... off to the supermarket and buy some seeds... now there are some culinary herbs seeds in vases; carrot seeds in the yard; pansy seeds in the garden; tomato, chili, lettuce (and 1 other I can't remember) seeds in a small invented greenhouse... I'm so excited... will they grow?... It's still a bit cold and raining... and the seeds are out there... I hope they are OK...
